While traveling you get the chance to meet people from different countries, cultures, habits …
The feeling of today reminds me of the one I used to have in my childhood after every summer holiday. You meet a stranger, start talking to him/her and end up sharing millions of things that you never ever expected to live or share with anyone. And then it is over. It is sad. Yes, I am feeling it now.
We call her Princess because I am sure she was a Princess in another life. We met her in Panglao, Philippines in a small restaurant. We had the same problem (the traveler problem), we were looking for a place to sleep… We talked for less than 30 minutes and she left. She was a stranger and she left as a stranger.
5 days later, we met her again randomly in another restaurant thousands of miles away from Panglao, where we met the first time. I guess all travelers go to the same restaurants… We talked a bit about our 12 hours trip from Panglao to Malapascua (small islands around Cebu Island in the Philippines) and G told her about the magic world of diving. Diving scares but I convinced her to give it a try. Once our conversation was over, we considered her a good travel acquaintance.
Guess what, we met her the next day and ended up diving with the same diving club. We dove for a week together. This time we felt we were travel friends.
2 weeks later, we reached Bali, Indonesia, with no plans. We messaged her and she had a plan! WOW! Easy, we followed her to Amed, a small village, in the North of Bali. We met again and we spent 3 days diving together. And for the 4th time our roads separated.
Lombok was going to be the beginning of our real starting point of our adventure with Princess.
8 weeks ago, we decided to travel together… For how long? where to? No one knew at that moment…
We ended up sharing crazy travel trips (some of them took 28 hours), talks at 2 a.m, stupid moments, laughs, amazing dives around Asia, rooms in beautiful homestays and rooms in really really shitty ones, funny surfing classes, motorbike trips, sharing with locals, amazing moments as well as bad ones. We spent 2 months traveling around Indonesia and Malaysia.
Today was our last day together. She is the nicest and craziest german we ever met. When we started calling her Princess, we knew that she will bring a lot of sparkle into our lives and she did. In the end ,we started considering her as our sister because we were sharing all we had and it felt just right. Thank you for being such a Princess, you are even better than Kate Moss in this picture (best joke ever). We are going to miss our german classes, your need to get a tan to feel better, your way of talking, your kindness, your princess waving, your beautiful blond hair under water, our shopping sessions and so much more. We met you as a stranger, and we leave you today as our favorite travel buddy, our travel sister. We feel lucky our roads kept crossing and are happy we travelled together for so long. It was destiny. We already miss you and we really hope that you get the best from life because you’re worth it.
We LOVE YOU Princess.
